Liverpool stars have taken to social media to share their thanks and praise for Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, who left the club after the 1-1 draw with Brentford on Sunday.
Anfield was a crucible of raw emotion as Liverpool closed out their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brentford. The final whistle didn’t just signal the end of the season it marked the final curtain call for two of the most influential figures in modern Liverpool history: Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
After nine trophy-laden years on Merseyside, both players are moving on, leaving behind a legacy that includes multiple Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and an indelible mark on the club’s identity.
Following an emotional post-match guard of honour, the dressing room took to social media to share heartfelt farewells, tributes, and behind-the-scenes memories of the departing icons.
Alisson- “What a privilege.”
Alisson joined a year after Robertson and Salah made the move to Liverpool and it was Alisson’s signing that helped bring Liverpool to the next level. The keeper spoke of the privilege that he had playing with the pair and how he would be telling his grandkids about getting to play with them.
Van Dijk before the final game- “grateful for our journey together”
Virgil van Dijk sparked some conversation among Liverpool fans as he posted a farewell image with Salah and Robertson. In the picture were also Alisson and Joe Gomez.
These of course were the surviving players from the Champions League win in 2019, but many fans speculated that these were other secretly departing players.
Ryan Gravenberch- “True legends of this club”
Gravenverch thanked the pair and shared his gratitude for getting to shar the pitch with them. He then wished them all the best for the next stage of their careers.
Alexis Mac Allister- “Showing what it means to be a Liverpool player:”
Alexis Mac Allister thanked the pair for showing him and others what it means to be a Liverpool player. He also spoke of the huge legacy that the pair left at the club and that winning the Premier League with them is “something (he) will never forget”.
Dominik Szoboszlai- “Your legacy will always be a part of LFC”
Dominik Szoboszlai reflected on three seasons spent playing with the pair. He not only thought about the trophies won with Robertson and Salah, but also the lessons the he has learned from the pair. His final line is the most fitting, “Your legacy will always be part of LFC.”
Hugo Ekitike- “My partner” and “Your character will be missed”
Hugo Ekitike may have only played with the pair for one season but took to his instagram story to share his adoration for his teammates. He refered to Salah as his “partner” and share of the good advice he had received from the winger as welll as the example that he is able to follow. For Robertson, he spoke of the character that will be missed.
The social media tributes perfectly mirrored the scenes on the pitch. Accompanied by their families, Salah and Robertson walked through a guard of honour formed by teammates and staff, before being met by club royalty Sir Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush.
