Player Ratings: Burnley 2 – 0 Liverpool

There’s quite a few words I’d use to describe that performance but in a nutshell, we were s***.

From start to finish we didn’t look even remotely like scoring a goal or working the goalkeeper. We had 26 shots and 80% possession but had nothing to show for it.

This is a massive contrast to the uplifting performance against Arsenal. If there’s space in behind we can wreak havoc, if they put man 10 men behind the ball we struggle to break them down.

Burnley had a game plan, get the early goal and sit back.

Low and behold 90 minutes later and that’s what happened. We knew that’s what we were facing yet the players just completely run out of ideas.

Too many sloppy passes, too many late decisions and too little urgency on the ball. It’s not good enough.

No player on the pitch could really walk off with any credit but I’ll still share my thoughts on each individual performance.
