Birmingham interested in taking Ryan Kent on loan

Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham are interested in taking Ryan Kent on loan next season, but face competition from fellow Championship sides, the Mirror reports.

The winger has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Coventry City and Barnsley respectively and now looks set for another season away from Anfield.

With the Reds wrapping up the signing of Mohamed Salah last week for £34.3m, Kent has dropped further down the pecking order at Anfield and would likely find playing time hard to come by next season.

Kent was named Barnsley’s Young Player of the Season in 2016-17, making 47 appearances in total for the Tykes, scoring three goals and laying on three assists.

The youngster is highly rated at Anfield and made his senior debut for the club in an FA Cup tie with Exeter in January 2016.

Redknapp is believed to be an admirer, as is ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers – now in charge at Celtic.

With Kent in such high demand and fellow youngsters Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo ahead of him in the Anfield ranks, another year on loan would seem to make sense for all parties.
