Liverpool’s last game of the season sees the Reds head into the dressing rooms level 0-0 at the break. The Anfield outfit have dominated the majority of the ball and chances, though they have yet to break the deadlock.
Mohamed Salah also started his final game in a Red shirt in the best way possible as his free kick struck the post. A few minutes later, he attempted his luck from a tight angle, as did Dominik Szoboszlai, though their efforts were just shy of the target.
With moments to go before the break, Kevin Schade has a great chance for his side to take the lead, though Alisson made a fantastic save. The Reds broke quick as a ball found Cody Gakpo in the box, though Michael Kayode put it behind for a corner.
Here are the ReadLiverpool half time ratings:
Alisson – 6
The Brazilian returned to the sticks for the first time since the middle of March in their Champions League match with Galatasaray, and he showed just what they have missed. He had little to do, though when a loose ball fell to an opponent, he made a fantastic save to keep the match level
Curtis Jones – 5
When Keith Andrews’ side has looked to pounce on any loose balls, it has come down Liverpool’s right-hand side, though it’s been few and far between. Unfortunately, he’s had little to do when his side are on the front foot as well.
Ibrahima Konate – 5
The away side have done very little in the opening stages of the affair, with the Frenchmen being required to do very little. He had a header in the opening stages, but lacked any true conviction
Virgil Van Dijk – 5
The Captain has had a similar story to his centre-back partner, with very little to do. Igor Thiago has tried to make runs off the pair, but no ball has found him yet. With them still focused on their European push, the Brazilian will be expected to be more active in the second half.
Andy Robertson – 6
The Scotsman says goodbye to Anfield today, and it’s been one with little defensive work needed. Going forwards, he’s linked up well with Ngumoha, though Brentford have also defended well in numbers.
Alexis Mac Allister – 5
The Argentine has found it tough at times through the afternoon so far. He’s played a few overhit passes, or clearances that have fallen kindly to opposition players. Needs to be more calm on the ball, then the decisive actions will follow
Ryan Gravenberch – 7
At times this season, he’s been inconsistent on and off the ball, but so far he’s looked much more like himself. Countless drives through the Bees midfield put them on the back foot, including a free kick in a dangerous area which hit the post. His strike just before half time forced Caoimhin Kelleher into an excellent save.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7
The Hungarian has been one of the most creative outlets on the pitch during the first half. He’s looked to unleash Salah and Nguomha in attacking areas, though they have yet to take the advantage.
Rio Ngumoha – 6
Normally, he’s the dazzling star for the Merseyside outfit, though he’s been unable to do that in the opening 45 minutes. Much of that is down to one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League this season, in Michael Kayode, who has stood strong when the teenager tries to make something magic happen.
Mohamed Salah – 7
Came agonisingly close to the opener when one of his uncommon free kicks struck the post, leaving former Liverpool keeper Kelleher rooted to his spot. He continued to put pressure on the Irishman’s goal
Cody Gakpo – 5
Out of the attacking options Arne Slot’s side have on the pitch, Gakpo has been the most anonymous. The Dutch forward has played through the middle, though the Bees’ back five setup has meant he’s done very little so far, outside of a header from a cross which was blocked superbly by Kayode.
