Liverpool considering shock Coutinho return

Liverpool are reportedly considering joining Chelsea and Manchester United in a move for out of favour Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.

According to Spanish publication Sport, relayed by the Daily Mail, the Reds are considering turning their attention to Coutinho after failing to agree a deal with Real Madrid for Marco Asensio.

Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona last January in a deal worth £145m after five successful years at Anfield.

The Brazilian has struggled during his time at the Nou Camp, finding the back of the net 21 times and providing 11 assists in his 76 appearances for the club.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are thought to be tracking the playmaker, with Barcelona willing to take a hit on the 27-year-old ahead of the new season.

Coutinho struck 54 times and produced 45 assists during his first stint on Merseyside and could well be making a surprise return to Anfield under Jurgen Klopp if the latest reports are to believed.
