Liverpool in advanced talks over deal for Ryan Fraser

Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bournemouth to land Ryan Fraser in the January transfer window.

According to TalkSport, Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Fraser as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the second-half of the season.

Fraser’s contract at Bournemouth expires at the end of the season, which could allow Liverpool to strike a bargain deal for the Scottish international – with Bournemouth looking to avoid losing him on a free.

Liverpool lack depth in the forward areas and have had to play Divock Origi in multiple positions across the frontline this season because of it. Signing Fraser would give Jurgen Klopp an extra option in the final third and someone to call upon off the bench if he needs an injection of pace to change a game.

Fraser is a nimble, fleet-footed, winger who likes to get the ball to feet and drive at defenders to create chances. He would offer a different dimension to Liverpool’s current attackers, albeit with less quality than the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

However, you are never going to be able to accommodate an entire squad of world-class players and keep them all happy, which means that you need squad options like Fraser who will be content with playing the role of a back-up. Fraser will know that he is not going to come in and oust Mane from his spot in the team, but he knows that he would get chances off the bench and in the cup competitions to make an imapct.
