Roma hoping to secure Alisson to new deal

Liverpool have been dealt a potential blow in their pursuit of Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, cited by the Echo, have stated that Roma are working on trying to agree a new contract with the Brazilian shot-stopper.

Alisson’s wage demands are €5m a year, according to the report. Roma are also keen to put in a €90m release clause in the deal to scare off any interested sides.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in Alisson as he looks to strengthen his goalkeepers in time for next season, with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius yet to impress the German enough to be called the club’s guarenteed number one.

Roma goalkeeping coach Roberto Negrisolo has heaped an abundance of praise on the Brazilian ‘keeper. He went as far as describing the 25 year-old as the “Lionel Messi of goalkeepers” because “he can mark an era” in the way the Argentinian has.

So Roma are clearly desperate to hold on to one of the hottest goalkeeping talents around at the moment and if he does put pen-to-paper on a new deal, Liverpool will have to pay more than they orignally thought they would need to.
