Klopp hints at possible chance for Harvey Elliott

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that youngster Harvey Elliott will be given his chance in the Premier League in the coming games.

The Red face a tough schedule in the next week or so as they face Wolves and Sheffield United, having just played Leicester on Boxing Day.

Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, Klopp said this:

We have to make changes and we will. There are four more adult players plus Curtis and Neco at the moment. Harvey wasn’t in the squad today, but will be. Rhian (Brewster) is close to being back, but for the others, it will take a while.

So that’s our squad and we have to deal with it as good as possible and that’s what we’ll try to do for the Wolves and Sheffield United games.

Elliott is yet to make his Premier League bow for Liverpool, so it would be a special moment for the teenage winger if Klopp handed him minutes in the league. He has played in three League Cup matches this term, catching the eye on the wing, and played two Premier League matches for Fulham last season – both off the bench.

It would be a show of faith from Klopp to give him a chance, considering that he is still only 16. The German manager clearly has him in his thinking, so it will be interesting to see what he does now against Sheffield United and Wolves.
