Liverpool given £200,000 fine for fielding ineligible player in Carabao Cup

Liverpool are set to avoid explusion from the Carabao Cup, after the EFL decided to hand down a fine of £200,000 for fielding an ineligible player in the win over MK Dons.

The Reds, who beat MK Dons with a much changed side, sent on  Pedro Chirivella from the bench during the victory.

However, the Spaniard was inelgibile for the game, meaning Liverpool could have faced expulsion from the competition.

Paul Joyce of the Times however has confirmed that Liverpool will only have to pay off a fine of £200,000 as punishment.

This is a good move for the Reds, as they would surely not want to be kicked out of the competition.

Yes, Klopp probably won’t priorities success in the Carabao Cup, but Reds fans certainly won’t say no to more silverware.

It means that the Reds will face a tough test against Arsenal in the next round of the competition.
