Liverpool could go back in for Berahino

Daniel Sturridge’s ongoing injury issues could tempt Liverpool into entering the race to sign Saido Berahino, as per the Mirror.

The England Under-21 international scored his first West Bromwich Albion since October in the 2-2 draw with Bristol City on Saturday, and celebrated by shaking his manager Tony Pulis’ hand.

But the striker handed in a transfer request in the summer and there is still uncertainty surrounding his future.

Tottenham Hotspur remain the favourites to sign Berahino, having already had several bids turned down in the summer.

Liverpool were first linked with the 22-year-old by the Daily Mail a year ago, but since then they have spent big money on Christian Benteke, signed Danny Ings, and seen Divock Origi join the club after spending a year on loan at former club Lille.

Berahino has registered four goals in 16 appearances this season, but he has only played from the start on eight occasions.

Last term was Berahino’s best in Baggies colours, netting 20 times in all competitions.
