Liverpool willing to pay €20m for Thiago Alcantara

Despite reports to the contrary, Liverpool are still interested in signing Thiago Alcantara this summer but they’re only willing to pay €20m (£18.11m) for the Spaniard, according to a report from German outlet BILD.

As it stands, that figure likely isn’t enough for Bayern but their stance could change throughout the transfer window.

Bayern, knowing that Thiago has no intention of signing a new contract, are keen to offload the 29-year-old and want to wait until he’s gone before doing any business of their own, so there is a chance that the Bundesliga champions could take a lower fee to get him off the books.

Michael Edwards and Liverpool are often praised for their transfer dealings and their ability to get bargains and this could be another one of those cases that sees them earn more plaudits.

The impact of the global pandemic has effected Liverpool’s ability to splash the cash this summer so if they can sign a midfielder with the ability of Thiago for €20m, they may we’ll be pulling off another transfer masterstroke.
